Polyurethane coating (PU Coating) is described as a layer of polyurethane (a type of polymer) that is applied/ sprayed to a material's surface in order to change its optical characteristics or to protect it.
A polyurethane coating can protect the base material from corrosion, weathering, oxidation, abrasion, and other processes that would degrade the material over time. Polyurethane coating where a different range of polyurethane is sprayed on an object and after a curing process produces a hard and smooth surface layer that is durable, waterproof, attractive in look and feel, and can be opaque or transparent. The finishes can be from melamine matte to a high gloss finish.
Polyurethane coatings are used for many different applications. Wood floors are often coated with polyurethane. Polyurethane coatings are also used on metals and on top of other coatings. Polyurethane coatings provide design flexibility to designers and architects looking to offer unique finishes to their spaces.
